We've had one of those afternoons where Adriaan asks "mama, go please" over and over until we pack up and go adventuring.  I was hoping to get outside anyway because it has been beautiful, enjoying the sunshine is a luxury I'll forfeit when we board a plane for Amsterdam.  Adriaan and I intended to find a little playground nearby but when I couldn't find it we stopped at the St. Edwards Greenbelt and went hiking instead.  Enjoy the sunshine we did, though we tried to enjoy it as much as possible from a shaded spot!

 

We had good conversation, Ado and I.  We talked about what different animals say, which is pretty consistent, the fun questions are "what does dada say" and "what does mama say" because those responses change from day to day.  Today, dada says, "I love you too!" and mama says, "Kiss [mwah]!"

I have started asking Adriaan what he is thankful for, something I picked up from my little kids yoga co-teacher.  Today Adriaan is thankful for "dada's shoes."  The other day he was thankful for Will's nose! Typically after yoga class he is thankful for water because he's thirsty and wants to drink water.

 

We saw yellow flowers and yellow butterflies as well as several rocks (good for throwing) and even a long stick (good for fencing).  Ado challenged every shrub and tree along the path to a fierce duel.  Sometimes he would take a break because it would be "mama's touwey (turn)."  In the end the sword grew too heavy for my fearless knight and I was required to carry it.

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The above photo is our reflection in the car window - the only way i could think to get us both in a picture.  I do regret that I'm not wearing my hat, which Adriaan requested that I wear at all times...I spent 20 minutes looking for it before we could leave.

I kept myself entertained by taking photos while Ado fought his many battles in the woods with a stick.  This one is my favorite because I like the spots of sunshine on the ground.
